Zero Tails of Fiber Laser Cutting ?
More and more laser cutting manufacturers are now advertising that laser cutting of pipes can achieve zero tailing, but is this really possible?
Currently, laser pipe cutting machines on the market come in single-chuck, double-chuck, triple-chuck, and quadruple-chuck configurations. In reality, single-chuck and double-chuck machines cannot achieve zero tailing because they always require the rear chuck to hold the pipe, resulting in some pipe not being completely cut. Of course, this tailing won't be much; generally, the minimum tailing can be as small as 30mm, which is quite good.
Compared to two-chuck machines, triple-chuck and quadruple-chuck machines can theoretically achieve zero tailing. This is mainly because when cutting to a short section of the pipe, the rear chuck releases, and the laser head moves behind the middle chuck for further cutting. If the cutting dimensions and the actual length of the pipe can be perfectly aligned, zero tailing is achievable.
For laser cutting machines, the cost of the chuck accounts for a large proportion of the overall machine price. Therefore,both three-chuck and four-chuck machines are significantly more expensive than two-chuck machines. For customers with limited budgets, two-chuck machines are always the first choice. However, achieving zero-tailing (no waste material) becomes a point of contention.

How to achieve the Zero Tailing with two Chucks ?
① The laser head avoids the front of the chuck, and the front chuck holds the pipe can be moved to the other side of the laser head to
re-cut the final tail material.
②There is a take-up clamp at the front of the chuck.after the machine finishes cutting, it uses a cylinder to clamp the cut pipe, preventing
it from being pulled back when thechuck returns to its original position and thus damaging the equipment.
